The Councillor for the Environment and Beaches, Francisco Moreno has said that municipal maintenance crews responsible for the Torrevieja beaches are finalizing the maintenance work in preparation for the influx of visitors anticipated over the Easter holiday period.
He said that several tasks have been carried out during the past few weeks including the overhaul of the pumping stations which provide the water supply for the footbaths. They have been thoroughly cleaned, had their filters replaced as well as a general review of all electronically controlled equipment. Those footbaths deemed to be in need of replacement have all been changed.
Fencing and railings have also been repaired and repainted along the beaches of El Cura and Los Locos.
On La Mata beach his staff are repairing the pedestrian path by replacing the broken wood paneling. Once renewed the supporting base will be replaced with new wood.
As Easter will be celebrated in late April the Councillor said that he expects to see a major influx of tourists into the area therefore the city of Torrevieja is determined to have the beaches and surroundings areas ready and in pristine condition.
