Reach Out for Rockys this coming Saturday

Rocky’s Arena in Playa Flamenca is set to rock with a family fun day in aid of Reach Out Torrevieja, a humanitarian charity which helps the homeless and those in need.

The fun takes place on Saturday May 10th when a whole host of local entertainers are giving their time for free in aid of the charity. Day manager of Rocky’s Arena, Ria Cramb, said, “We have held a fundraiser every year for the last three years to celebrate Reach Out. This year, we are celebrating Reach Out’s third anniversary and it is such a pleasure to be able to help such a worthwhile charity.”

Some of the area’s top local entertainers are set to perform on the day – Sunshine FM’s Dan Davy takes to the stage at 2pm to begin the fun day. Dan is followed by Sunflower Valley, the hugely popular award winning duo, at 3pm. Then at 4pm, it’s time for the high octane antics of Suzy G and her band of dancers. At 5pm, Michael Dean rounds off proceedings with some favourite tunes through the years.

With the sun set to shine on the day, it will be a perfect day out for families with bouncy castles, face painters and the wonderful magic of Graeme Mykal.

The Reach Out team will also be on hand to receive donations. President of the charity, Karolina Leonard said, “We are so grateful to Rocky’s Arena for their continual fundraising for us. Everyone is looking forward to the family fun day and are geared up to have some fun! We are asking members of the public to bring donations on the day if they can. The items we need most are basic personal hygiene products, cleaning items and non perishable food. We have had a lot of donations recently of rice and pasta, so we are very grateful that we don’t need so much of this type of food but all other foodstuffs, we are desperate for to help feed our homeless people and families.”

BALD AMBITION

Never one to shy away from her dedication to the charity, Reach Out’s President Karolina had a surprise announcement to coincide with the family fun day at Rocky’s. She told us, “If we receive pledges of €2000, I am going to have my head shaved on the day. Obviously, it’s a big step and my husband isn’t too happy, but if I can raise much needed funds for the charity, I will gladly lose my locks!”

By 5.30pm, if sponsorship has reached the target, Karolina will go under the blade in front of all those gathered on the day.

So don’t forget to put Saturday May 10th in your diary. A great opportunity to soak up some sun with friends and family with plenty to entertain the children. Not only that, but it is all for a great cause.
