On the last Thursday of June, 30 intrepid and enthusiastic golfers left the Friendly Bar for the our once a month golf society day out.
The golf course in question was Alicante playa de San Juan and all of the players agreed that the trip was worth the effort, I would go there just to view the wild life ,I was amazed to see how many variety of bird life on the lakes and surrounding area there were, next time take the camera.
The golf course itself was pleasing to play ,only fault were the greens which were quite slow , but for the rest of the course I can only say it was a pleasure to be in Spain ,with good company and on the golf course. Winner on the day with 33 points was Janet Bryan ,2nd Deklan Meila 29 points and 3rd John (Scouse) Bryan 29 ,(that’s on count back ) ie family day out! Longest Drive Dave Simpson (guest) nearest the pin Bill Gladman , best guest player Simon Ashworth from Jersey who it was a pleasure to share a buggie with.
Just a hint for next time trust the sat-nav or not as the case may be , also look out for stray golf balls Deklan. Next day out on the 31st of July is the Steve Adams Memorial trophy at Font del Llop golf club , Steve Adams who was the Brother of Dave (owner of the Friendly Bar ) sadly died at a young age of cancer.
