Elche hung on to claim all 3 points and their first win of the season despite late pressure from Rayo.

Having gone 3-1 in front with goals from Albacar, Jonathas and Mosquera, Elche looked to be cruising to an easy win until Albacar handled inside the box in the final minute of the game, Bueno converted from the spot to pull the scoreline back to 3-2 to set up five tense final minutes. However the visitors weathered the storm to secure the win.
