4TH year students at the college Virgen del Pilar in Pilar de la Horadada were spent a day travelling around the town last week when they were taken on an excursion by the Councillor for Education Benjamin Fraile.
Their first port of call was the Ayuntamiento where they were shown around the different departments before meeting the mayor Fidel Ros. He said how pleased he was that they could see at first hand how many of the functions operated in the town hall.
From Pilar the group travelled to Pinar de Campoverde where they visited the birthplace of the famous local sculptor Sánchez Lozano.
They were told of his life in and around the region and shown some of his work, which was devoted primarily to the sculpting and restoration religious imagery, before he died in Pilar, aged 91.
The final stop on the tour was at the Tourist Office, where each student received a small gift to mark the day.
