Travelling around the municipality Pilareño on two wheels is now much easier thanks to the new network of cycling routes in and around the town which now boasts a network of over 30km.
They connect the center of the municipality with Cañada de Praes, Mil Palmeras, Torre de la Horadada and el Mojón making all easily available to lovers of cycling through bicycle lanes, cycle-streets and trails.
The grand opening of the routes was carried out by an tour around the area involving more than 250 cyclists. There were also a number of skaters from Murcia who joined the fun and sports day travel around the four routes that are currently fully operational, “Senda del Mar”, “Pilar de la Horadada”, “Costa” and “Vía Parque N-332”.
The mayor, José Fidel Ros, said that this is an investment that connects the town with villages around the entire municipality, offering all members of the community the opportunity of using bikes more safely, providing them with additional sustainable and healthy options.
The Councillor for Tourism, Eva Martinez, addressed participants explaining the route to them through the main tourist attractions including the Watchtower, Roman quarries, the archeological museum and the church.
The morning was designed for all ages and physical abilities, using a combination of sport, culture and tourism in making it a real family atmosphere.
