Podemos (‘We can’) was founded just over a year ago with pretensions of breaking the two-party domination in Spanish politics. In Orihuela the Party’s arrival has been a little more recent with local Secretary General, Vicente Mateo, only taking up office a little over 6 weeks ago.
But now, with only a matter of weeks to the Local Elections, he is moving forward and beginning the urgent process of recruiting a pool of canvassers and voters in order to contest the May ballot under the name “Queremos Orihuela” (We Orihuela).
To create a pool of voters the party is required to submit a list of 1500 names of Orihuela citizens who are registered on the municipal electoral roll, which must be authenticated by a notary or by the Secretary of the Municipal Corporation.
Mateo said that "this initiative is necessary and will enable the party to build the tools to put back the institutions which will serve the people in the common good, participation, transparency, regeneration and change"

Those interested can submit their data and in so doing contribute to a new start for the City and region of Orihuela.
There will also be part members canvassing over the coming days and weekends on the streets of Orihuela and the Orihuela Costa, as well as at the Party headquarters
