Apple Pay is a contactless payment system developed by the mobile phone and tablet manufacturer, Apple.

Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona has become one of the first grocery stores to integrate Apple Pay, a contactless payment system developed by the mobile phone and tablet manufacturer, Apple.

The company has already invested in new technology to enable contactless payment in the supermarkets, and with the addition of Apple Pay it is hoped that they will provide a quicker service to their customers, and already has 16,000 terminals compatible with Apple Pay.

However, Apple Pay is not yet available in Spain, but it is expected that Apple will expand the service soon, and so Mercadona want to be prepared for when the service is available.

The mobile payment service Pay Apple uses NFC technology to make payments at establishments with support for it, but can also be used to pay for purchases made with the device and in-app purchases.
