The 1992 Olympics were held in Barcelona and the city still benefits from the superb facilities built for this event. In the Marina hundreds of small yachts bob up and down in the waves created by passing mini cruisers which are packed with happy sightseers.
In the nearby "Rambla" clearly the best known street in Spain, passers by are entertained by an incredible variety of performers, busking for an income.
This ranges from highly talented to outright zany. Flower vendors and artists compete with the entertainers for the many thousands of euros, which pass hands every day in this street. In the square in front of the original theatre, you encounter "classy" buskers, mostly music students earning a crust, playing some genuinely beautiful music on the cello, violin, and harp amongst other instruments.
