Search Launched for Missing Diver

An emergency rescue helicopter assisted search and medical teams from Cartagena on Tuesday trying to locate a diver who had gone missing off the coast of Cabo de Palos, near La Manga.

The alarm was raised just after noon that the diver, who was exploring the wreck of the famous Stanfield ship, had failed to surface and return to the support vessel, and was 45 minutes overdue.

Tragically, the rescuers found the lifeless body of the diver, said to be a British male in his 50´s, in the sea.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
