Quick Fix for Rain Damaged Beaches

The councillor of beaches in Torrevieja, Javier Manzanares, has highlighted “the speed and solvency with which the beaches in the town have been fixed”, after heavy rain, “caused serious damage, both in the loss of sand and the furniture on the beaches,” he said.

The councillor also wanted to highlight that the main reason for such prompt action was that the town hall were prepared and, thanks to the foresight from the Department of Beaches, some 14,000 cubic metres of pure beach sand that was stored for years was moved into place thus bringing the beaches back to a quality standard within just 24 hours.

“I have always said that for the City Council the beaches should be a priority, their care and maintenance throughout the year are important for citizens and the tourists that visits us. I want to thank the workers of our beaches for the enormous work they do and have done, especially in the last 48 hours,” re reiterated.

In total, some 600 cubic meters of sand have been supplied to the beaches of El Cura, Los Locos and Los Náufragos in the last 48 hours. Water pipes have also been fixed, furniture has been replaced on the beaches and the environment has been conditioned to them. “On Saturday we had the beaches destroyed and today they are in perfect conditions to enjoy”, whereas the workers are continuing to repair the rest of the municipality´s beaches, which should be back to full working order today.
