Celebrating the Torrevieja May Fair

3 min read

For the second consecutive year, one of the most popular events on the city’s festive calendar, the May Fair, will not be able to take place. The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic dictates this, but despite everything, the Department of Festivities of the Torrevieja Council, has scheduled a souvenir gala and also as an announcement of its celebration for next year.

Councillor Concha Sala has indicated that the intention is that “next May 2022, if everything goes according to plan, we can celebrate our May Fair with many new features and as an unbeatable opportunity to enjoy Torrevieja and its fair atmosphere “. Sala has indicated that “so that we keep in mind these days that should be full of the joy and fun of our fair, we have programmed a symbolic gala with which we are going to pay tribute to our May Fair.”

The councillor says this gala will take place next Thursday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Theatre. In it, the Municipal Dance School will participate, with its teacher, Nuria Girona, representing the dance academies that are the protagonists of the fair each year. The “Blanca y Verde” Choir of the Casa de Andalucía “Rafael Alberti” of Torrevieja and the Choir of the Andalusian Cultural Association of Torrevieja will also perform on the stage of the theatre.

Tickets to attend the gala will be free until full capacity is reached and may be collected from Monday, May 17 to Wednesday, 19, at the Municipal Theatre box office from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on the 20th, two hours before the start of the gala.
