Young people are being urged to tell their “horror” stories, through the medium of film, as part of the next instalment of a horror spectacle set to take place just before Halloween in Torrevieja.

The Youth Department of Torrevieja Council publicised the event, for which submissions are welcome until October 15, for short horror films for the “Torrerífico 2023” festival, organised jointly by the Department of Youth, the University Headquarters of the University of Alicante in Torrevieja, and the La Comarca Youth Association.

El Torrerífico 2023, in its sixth edition, will be held on Saturday, October 28, from 5:00 p.m. at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre.

The short films in competition must have a minimum duration of 1 minute and a maximum of 20 minutes, including the credits.

There are three prizes for the winners, the jury award for best short film, worth €1,000, second jury prize, worth €500, and the public prize, worth €200.

In the last edition of the Torrerífico in 2022, the record for the presentation of short films in competition was broken, with 17 short films in total, with directors from all over Spain, with the award for best short film being the short film “Tritop”, directed by María Antonia Martínez Tena.

For more information about the Torrerífico you can go in person to the CIAJ, located at Paseo Juan Aparicio, nº 5, or find out more through their social networks @torreviejajuventud on Instagram or Facebook, telephone 965714072, WhatsApp 606055291, emailtrabajo@torrevieja.eu and at the municipal website www.torrevieja.es.
