A man has died following a shooting in the heart of Torrevieja on Sunday evening, in an incident that has left the community shocked and prompted an urgent police investigation.
The shooting occurred shortly after 19:00 at the intersection of Calle Pedro Lorca and Rambla Juan Mateo García, a well-known central location. Emergency services were immediately deployed, and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim at the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead.
According to reports from the Guardia Civil, three men were arrested in connection with the incident just hours later. Authorities have since confirmed that a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered. Forensic specialists from the criminal investigations unit were quickly deployed to the scene, where officers cordoned off the area for several hours as part of their enquiries.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, but investigators have not ruled out links to organised criminal activity. The detainees are currently being held while formal charges are prepared, and further details are expected to be released following judicial authorisation.
