As summer winds down, families across Torrevieja and the wider Valencian Community are preparing for the start of a new academic year. The 2025–2026 school calendar, confirmed by the Conselleria de Educación, sets out the official term dates, holidays, and special observances that will shape the months ahead.
The academic year will begin on 8 September 2025 for pupils in Infant, Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate, as well as for most Vocational Training (FP) students. Two exceptions apply: students in basic qualification programmes and those following “second opportunity” vocational pathways, who will start slightly later on 10 September. Classes for adult learners and for pupils enrolled in artistic studies such as music, dance, arts, and design will begin on 15 September, while sports studies commence on 22 September. The last to return will be those registered in official language schools, who will start lessons from 25 September. For all groups, the school year will conclude on 19 June 2026, with the exception of adult and artistic education, which finish on 12 June.
The holiday calendar has also been set. Christmas break will run from 23 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, while Easter holidays are scheduled from 2 to 13 April 2026. In addition, the school year includes a number of key public holidays:
- 9 October – Day of the Valencian Community
- 8 December – Constitution Day
- 19 March – Saint Joseph’s Day
- 1 May – International Workers’ Day
Individual towns and cities may also establish additional non-school days, which will be confirmed by their respective municipal education councils.
The school calendar is more than just a timetable; it structures family life, local traditions, and the rhythm of the community. For parents, it means planning holidays, childcare, and balancing work schedules. For pupils, it sets milestones of learning and leisure, with summer once again seeming both far away and right around the corner.
As September approaches, the sense of “back to school” is as much about community as it is about classrooms—an annual reminder that education is the shared heartbeat of Torrevieja and the entire Valencian Community.
