Torrevieja Town Hall, through the Local Police Department, has announced that vehicle parking will once again be permitted on Calle Ramón Gallud starting from Monday, 3rd August.
Parking will be allowed along the section between Calle Orihuela and Calle Apolo for the majority of the day, specifically from 00:00 until 20:00 hours. However, parking will remain strictly prohibited daily between 20:00 and 24:00 hours. This four-hour restriction is designed to maintain traffic flow and prevent congestion during peak hours when vehicle volume heading towards the town centre is at its highest, particularly during the summer season.
The Local Police Department has requested that drivers pay close attention to the installed road signage and strictly respect the restricted hours, reminding motorists that vehicles must be removed from Calle Ramón Gallud before 20:00 hours.
This decision comes after a thorough monitoring process conducted throughout July by the Transport and Local Police departments. The trial followed the rollout of the new urban public transport service, evaluating bus frequencies and journey times. The checks confirmed that regular bus services and general traffic flow can successfully coexist while restoring street parking spaces for most of the day.
The measure will be fully evaluated after the summer period, when the town council will analyse traffic behaviour to determine the permanent configuration for Calle Ramón Gallud. Among the long-term options being considered are the implementation of a dedicated bus lane along the entire road or the creation of regulated parking spaces, commonly known as a blue zone.
