The Consorcio para el Desarrollo Económico de la Vega Baja del Segura (CONVEGA) has organised two free guided walking routes to showcase the GR-92 trail as it passes through the region, following its official recognition as the Best Approved Trail 2025 in the Comunitat Valenciana by the Federación de Deportes de Montaña y Escalada de la Comunidad Valenciana (FEMECV).
The first guided walk is scheduled for 4 October and will cover Stage 21 of the network, connecting Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja over a 15-kilometre route. The event is open to a maximum of 100 walkers and includes professional guide support, refreshments, activity insurance, planned transport between course points, and informative materials for participants.
The programme continues on 8 November with a second excursion along Stage 22 of the GR-92. This subsequent route will travel along the coastline linking Torrevieja, Orihuela, and Pilar de la Horadada.
The president of CONVEGA, Carlos Pastor, highlighted that the purpose of the two outings is to bring local residents closer to the natural, scenic, and historical heritage found along the Vega Baja sections of the GR-92. He noted that the initiative also aims to bolster the path’s standing as a premier eco-tourism destination following its regional accolade.
Pastor additionally commended the cooperative work carried out by CONVEGA alongside the Diputación de Alicante and local town halls to design, signpost, and formally approve both regional stages. He pointed out that these two sections represent the only officially certified stages of the entire Mediterranean Trail within the Comunitat Valenciana.
