Bathing accident leaves man injured after slipping on rocks

Emergency services were once again called into action in the Les Rotes area of Dénia following an incident this morning at around 10:00 a.m., when a swimmer suffered an accident at Trampolí beach and required hospital treatment.

According to Dénia’s Councillor for Citizen Security, Javier Scotto, the accident occurred when the barefoot man slipped on the rocks and struck his head. Despite the impact, the injured bather remained conscious and was safely evacuated to Dénia Hospital. Local police officers and an ambulance from the Generalitat’s Emergency Medical Services attended the scene to assist. Following treatment at the location and transport on a stretcher, he was taken to hospital while still conscious.

Although this particular fall happened due to a slip on the rocky terrain rather than from the diving board itself, this specific cove in Les Rotes has seen serious incidents during the summer season. On August 29th, a 70-year-old man died on the same beach after hitting the rocks while entering the water.

At the start of September, the structure of the traditional diving board was temporarily closed off as a safety precaution due to missing screws. It was subsequently reopened on September 11th after checks confirmed that the missing fastenings were limited to a decorative piece and did not affect the stability of the footbridge.
