Coronation Street actress Barbara Knox, 80, who plays Rita Tanner in the soap, was arrested this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, after reportedly driving to Knutsford police station in order to complain to officers who had previously arrested her daughter, Maxine Ashcroft, 56, also for driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said, “An 80-year-old woman from Knutsford arrived at Knutsford police station and was also arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. She was bailed pending further inquiries”, meanwhile a Coronation Street spokesperson said the arrest was a “personal matter”.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
