BENIDORM RECORDS MORE OVERNIGHT STAYS THAN MADRID

In the year to the beginning of September, however, Benidorm was visited by 1.3 million tourists, up by 1 percent from 2013.

During the month of August, Benidorm came third nationwide with the most overnight stays in the country, finishing behind only Barcelona (1.9 million) and the Balearic Islands, with 1.5 million. In 4th place came the capital, Madrid, with 1.2 million.

However, in the 2014 cumulative calculations, Benidorm actually lies fourth in the ranking with 7.3 million, behind Barcelona, 11.8 million, Madrid, 10.6 and San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Las Palmas) which has recorded 7.4 million stays.

During the month of August, Benidorm was visited by 239,351 travelers, a somewhat lower figure than in the same month of 2013, when 239,519 tourists visited the resort.

In the year to the beginning of September, however, Benidorm was visited by 1.3 million tourists, up by 1 percent from 2013.

Hosbec also reported that the average daily spend (rate ADV) and revenue per room (RevPAR) available in Benidorm was the highest in the Valencia region, with 86.1 and 79.9 euros respectively, higher than 2013 when the figures were to 80.8 and 72.8 euros respectively.

¬One further area where the resort did particularly well was in the number of visitors using local campsites, 157,918, which put the city 11th in the country behind L’Estartit (Girona) with 365,940. The city had an average occupancy of 73.6% of their plots recording 15% of all overnight stays in campsites in the Valencian Community.
