Torrevieja N-332 Widening Plan Confirmed by Central Government

The submission of plans to widen the N-332 main road as it passes Torrevieja has been confirmed by the Spanish government in a meeting with the regional deputies, thus taking the plans a step closer to reality.

The confirmation came this week following a question raised by a member of the Compromis political group to the Minister of Development Iñigo de la Serna, who officially announced the start of the drafting of the project of the duplication of the N-332 as it passes through Torrevieja.

At the same time, the minister confirmed the widening of the access road to Alicante-Elche airport, and other projects through the Alicante province.

Despite many failings for over a decade, and although it will still take some time to be completed, every process stage takes Torrevieja a step further to being relieved of the usual traffic chaos at peak times when the road network is incapable of dealing with the volume of traffic that passes through.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
