TANKER CRASH CAUSES DIESEL SPILLAGE

A tanker truck carrying 3,200 litres of diesel fuel overturned in an accident on Monday, on the A-7 motorway at Alginet, south of Valencia, resulting in around 300 litres spilling from the vehicle.

The Valencia Fire Consortium and Centre for Information and Coordination of Emergencies report that the incident happened at around 10:30 on Monday, when the truck, travelling in the Alicante direction, left the road and overturned on an embankment, clear of the road.

The 31 year old driver suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital.

The emergency services worked to contain the fuel leak, whilst awaiting the arrival of another tanker in order to transfer the remaining fuel.
