The proprietors and chefs

Luis María Pizana, Torrevieja councilor for Tourism and Hospitality, was joined by José Antonio Lozano, President of the Asociación de Empresas de Hostelería de Torrevieja and Region, in the Tourism Centre (CDT) Auditorium last Tuesday when the pair launched the second edition of “Arroces de Torrevieja”, Rice week, to be held between the dates of 3 and 9 March.

They were joined by members of the public as well as representatives and chefs from many of the 27 participating restaurants, 2 more than last year.

Following success in 2013 Lozano said that the use of rice would once again be demonstrated in its many forms. There would be rice dishes with rabbit and snails, rice with octopus, rice with lobster and of course many more. The restaurants would each prepare their own special menu where rice would feature as the main dish. Cost of the meals would vary between 20 and 28 euros and each would include a starter, main course, desert and a drink at a very affordable price.

The councillor stressed the importance of holding this type of event in the city of Torrevieja which he was sure would, once again, be a great success, and to continue expanding the annual calendar of culinary events to promote the excellent hospitality sector of the city.

All information about the participating restaurants and the menus they offer, are available on the website www.torreviejagastronomica.com .
