The Champion of Champions finals were played out on Saturday 19th at Vistabella and for those who were not able to be there you missed a great day’s bowling.
During the rounds and semi-finals there were close games and the finals had some equally close matches and excellent play. All were played in a very good, though competitive, spirit with spectators applauding good shots on both sides, not just for their team members.
San Luis BC was represented in the Men´s singles & the Men’s pairs and I’m pleased to say we took both trophies: Colin Jackson won the battle against Tony McKenna (Javea Green) to become Men’s Singles champion and Allen Bowen & Keith Jones won through aginst Derek Gunning & Gerry Gough (Country Bowls) to become Men’s Pairs champions.
Wednesday 23rd VCLeague: Blues away v Quesada Panthers had a tough day for 4pts-8. Winners, pairs: June & Keith Jones 19-21, trips Colin Jackson, Giuseppe Gallelli & Mal Hughes 24-16.
Whites at home v Quesada Tigers, won 8-4 winners: men’s singles: Scott Malden 21-20, p
airs: Margaret Rogers & Peter Cox 16-13, trips: Cas Blay, Dave Blackie & Arthur France 21-11.
Frday 25th SABA: Spitfire League, Wellingtons were at home to San Miguel Christians winning 10-4 (shots 121-90). Well done to: Pam Lockett, June & Keith Jones 21-11. Kath Reid, Bob White & Mike Lockett 19-11. Colin Jackson, Roy Cordell & Colin Lindgren 31-9. Jean Parkes, Vic Slater & Paul Parkes 20-18.
Hurricane League, Hercules away at Greenlands, were defeated by the Gladiators 2-12. Survivors; Audrey Ford, Bob Foulds & Sue Ross 19-15. Harrier League, Mosquitoes at home v Vistabella Greeners had a tough time, managing 4 points-10. Winners Frank Gibbons, Judy Carroll & Robin Harker 29-10. Dave Tilley, Ian Young & Cas Blay 24-11.

Spanish National Championships- play begins Sunday 11th May, San Luis will be hosting matches until May 21st, please check the calendar to see when the green is available.
