A union representing the private company that operates Telefonica Movistar´s call centre, has called for its workers to strike on the 23rd of June.
Should the strike go ahead, the result would be about a 50% reduction in the capacity of the customer call centre, which would result in considerable difficulties in customers being able to get through to the centre.
The union explained that this strike has been called after the failure in negotiations to improve situations of “pressure” and “excessive control and lack of training” for the staff who operate in the centre.
The company are trying to force calls to be answered and dealt with quicker, in order, they say, to improve the level of service given to clients.
The union is also calling on support from both their own industry and others to down tools in support of industrial action on the day, as well as calling for protests outside the Telefonica Movistar building.
