At the Branch General Meeting held on Tuesday 15th July, the Branch Chairman, Terry Joy, chaired his last meeting due to his unexpected need to return to the UK to live. At the conclusion of the meeting Terry handed over his ‘Badge of Office’ to his successor, David Barnes.
Throughout his 6 odd years as a member of the Branch, Terry was fully involved with branch activities and carried out several important roles.
He acted a Branch Standard and National Flag Bearer whenever required and took on the role of Vice Chairman and eventually Chairman in February 2012. During this time, despite suffering a stroke early in 2013, he was soon back and as enthusiastic as before and led the Branch in it’s 10th Anniversary celebrations in March and he was already looking forward to the Battle of Britain Commemoration service due in September.
There is no doubt he will be sadly missed for his tact and diplomacy in leading the Branch during his time a Chairman and for his very dry sense of humour.
To complete the Branch farewell to Terry and his wife Carol, a special ‘Farewell Lunch’ was held at the Rendezvous Restaurant on Friday 25th July. At the lunch Terry was presented with a specially engraved Tankard to remind him of his time spent with the Costa Blanca Branch of RAFA.’
