Torrevieja Magistrate’s Court Torrevieja, together with agents from the Guardia Civil are investigating the situation regarding three markets located in the municipality of Guardamar del Segura which allegedly lack the mandatory operating licenses despite the fact that they have been open for years.
Essentially the investigation centre’s around planning and the environment, however, according to sources close to the investigation, the investigation is intended to determine whether there has been alleged collusion between businessmen operating the three markets, Guardamar politicians and civil servants at different levels as well as members of the Security Forces, both the Guardia Civil and the local police.
According to sources close to the court, representatives of the three markets have already testified so the next defendants to be summoned will be members of the PP government of Guardamar.
Carmen Verdú, the PP mayor of Guardamar has urged the company operating the three markets, Campo de Guardamar Markets, to provide her with an urgent study showing the historical data that they had to produce when the markets were first opened.
