The Alicante deputy for tourism, Joaquin Albaladejo, has attended the World Travel Market in London this week, with the sole aim of promoting sports in the area.
Albaladejo, who is also the financial councilor for Torrevieja, met with representatives from the Eurosport TV channel, who have been invited along on a “press trip” to the province, where they will be given an example of the sporting excellence on offer across the province.
The primary sports under the spotlights were cycling, as the provincial tourism board are “commitment to cycling as a way to increase the number of tourists out of season”, according to Albaladejo.
In addition to cycling on TV, Albaladejo also met with Polish tour operators, as a country with 38 million inhabitants and a strong economic growth is emerging as one of the most important for potential markets in the EU.
Sun and sand, active recreation or sports are products and services demanded my Polish tourist, for whom “the Costa Blanca an ideal destination to spend their vacation”, Albaladejo.
