Luis María Pizana, the Councillor in charge of Torrevieja’s Sports City, said last week that the complex is already hosting foreign and overseas clubs using the facility for their Winter training, the first of which is St. Svithuns, an Elite Sports College located in Stavanger in the western part of Norway.
The college has many young students and athletes of very high level who are studying and training in a wide variety of sports and associated skills.
He said that this is the first time that the Norwegian Elite School has visited Torrevieja Sports City, bringing with them on this occasion a group of about 20 young swimmers, as they prepare the forthcoming national and international competitions.
According to the club coach, among the swimmers who have come to train in Torrevieja are the reigning European 1500m champion two others who won silver and bronze medals in the last European Youth Championships whilst representing the Norwegian National team. There are also several swimmers who claimed gold medals in the Scandinavian Championships, all of which are in Torrevieja to prepare for upcoming European events.
They have now spent a week in the city, training at the Municipal Olympic pool and have said that they are extremely satisfied with the sports facilities and the hospitality they received.
