The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, announced last week that tenders will shortly be invited from companies wishing to carry out the conversión of the 8 kilometre stretch of the N332 from single to dual carriageway, between km markers 53-61.
He said that preliminary studies have now been completed by the Valenciana Generalitat and the Highways Traffic Agency who have been looking specifically at the stretch along the highway from the CV 905 to the CV 95 at Los Balcones which carries approximately 33,250 vehicles per day.
He said that the work would also include measures necessary to ensure that the regular flooding of the area is remedied as well as consideration for pedestrians and cyclists who might also wish to use the road.
Initially he said that the authorities must take the steps required to complete the necessary environmental procedures before transferring the privately owned land into public ownership.
The bidding process will then be put into place for the work, the budget for which is 32 million euros, costs for which would be borne by the Valenciana Generalitat.
