Picture shows cruise winner, Christina Vidal and her partner, David Kempster, together with owner, Andres, and Annette English, representing the Care Home in Elche.

Last Saturday some of the young people from The Children’s Care Home in Elche, joined patrons at Restaurante El Alto La Dolores, in a ‘cook your own’ BBQ. 128 people attended, and were encouraged to cook their own meat on the BBQ, although there was help available for the less adventurous.

They were entertained by Ronnie Taylor (aka Justin Sane) and Vinny Mack, and the general feedback was that it was a great afternoon.

Once again, Andres, owner of the Restaurant, donated a Mediterranean Cruise as first prize in the raffle, and the lucky winner on this occasion, was Christina Vidal, from Rojales. A delighted Christina, said “I thought we had won a bottle of wine, or something like that.

I can’t believe we have won a Cruise!. Previous cruise winners, Brian and Carol Myers, were on hand to tell Christina what a luxurious ship it was, and what a fantastic time they had.

The young people from the care home who attended, were so appreciative of the monies raised for them through various fund-raisers, and four of them delivered hand-made thank-you cards to the organisers. Two of the young ladies were also persuaded to voice they thanks over the microphone, and confidently did so, albeit in Spanish.

This was another very successful event, with 782.60 euros raised for the children’s needs.
