The Local Police in Orihuela have embarked on a week-long campaign to control excessive noise emitted by motorcycles and scooters.

All this week the officers will be conducting random and spot checks aimed at silencing the noisier vehicles which cause disturbances to the peace and quiet of neighbourhoods, and also cause problems for the local environment and ecosystems as the noise if often caused by modifications to the vehicles which also result in excessive pollution.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. Torrevieja Pump Track Grand Opening
It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
