Residents in the Juan XXIII area of Alicante were woken with a surprise on Tuesday morning when a garbage collection truck caught fire and exploded whilst carrying out its collection rounds.
The residents took to their mobile phones and video cameras to record the smouldering mess on their doorstep, posting the results on social network sites.
The fire brigade attended and controlled the blaze whereas an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire.
