Last week we posted how a new diversion had been put in place for the Jose Carreras road in Torrevieja, the wibbly, wobbly road as it is commonly called, which now reopens the connection from the CV-905 to the schools and auditorium area in both directions.
This work is between Jardin del Mar and La Hoya, in connection with the Lagoons Village development.
So, that´s the good news! The bad news is that we went to look at the progress of the road this weekend, bearing in mind there was just a week left before it should reopen, and it is clear from the pictures it is nowhere near ready.

Checking the latest road closure notices from Torrevieja town hall, we now see that the closure notice has been extended until 31 August. So, the road will remain closed throughout the summer, including during the music festivals.

To get from the auditorium end to the CV-905 is quite simple, just follow the signs and you will find your way through. Going from the CV-905 is a little more complicated, with the route taking you from the Carrefour roundabout, weaving through the Doña Inés urbanisation, and (please take extra care) over a junction so renowned for collisions it is especially signposted as such.

In our opinion, it is probably easier for you to turn left at the Habaneras roundabout and go over the bridge over the N-332 towards the water park to be honest, but please allow extra time and be extra vigilant whichever way you go, and reduce your speed through the diversion routes.
In other road closure news, the road in front of the Park of Nations has also partially reopened, in the direction going northbound.
