At around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a serious collision occurred in the centre of Torrevieja.
The incident took place at the junction of calle Joaquín Chapaprieta and calle Vicente Blasco Ibáñez.
According to eyewitnesses, one of the vehicles failed to stop at the stop sign and collided sideways with a vehicle, which was driving correctly through the junction.
As a result of the impact, several parked cars were damaged. Several local police patrols, a team of firefighters from the Vega Sur Park in Torrevieja and three ambulances attended the scene.
Five people had to be treated in the incident, two of them seriously injured and had to be released by the firefighters, and three others with minor injuries, all of whom were transferred to the Torrevieja University Hospital, where they were admitted.
