The 71st edition of Torrevieja’s famed Habaneras & Polyphony competition will run from 20 to 26 July 2025, staged at the Municipal Theatre, and is expected to bring nearly 700 choral singers from Europe, the Americas and Asia to the stage.
The event kicks off with the traditional ceremony, featuring the Torrevieja Musical Union singing both the city anthem and the hymn of the Valencian Community, followed by an opening recital by esteemed singer Sole Giménez on 20 July.
Over the course of the first two nights (21–22 July), the spotlight will be on local talent, with gala presentations from renowned groups such as the Choral School’s Symphony Choir, Orfeón Mario Bustillo, and Coro Maestro Casanovas, among others.
The competition phase intensifies from Wednesday to Friday (23–25 July), when nine international ensembles—including Voskresinnia from Ukraine, Guangzhou Talent Choir from China, Zebtysqua Voces Oscuras and Gioia Da Camera from Colombia, and Agados Singers from South Korea—vie for top honours in both habaneras and polyphony categories.
The event culminates on Saturday 26 July with the Grand Gala and prize-giving. Choirs selected by the jury will perform again before the announcement of winners, followed by the communal singing of the mandatory piece “Torrevieja es así” (a tribute by Mario Bustillo and Mari Paz Andréu), symbolically uniting all participants in a final celebration.
To ensure this week of culture is accessible to all, ticketing options include a full-week pass at €50 (or €25 for pensioners), while single evening tickets are priced at €8 (or €4 for retired residents), all available through the Municipal Theatre box office.
