Wednesday 16th July is a local holiday in Torrevieja, as well as many other towns around the country where fishermen are key to their history, celebrating the patron saint, Virgen del Carmen.
In Torrevieja, the celebrations start this weekend and run through to the main event.
VIRGEN DEL CARMEN 2025
Saturday, July 12
12:00 p.m. Children’s entertainment show.
2:00 p.m. Lunch for the children of Alpe and Apanee. Location: Fish Market.
8:00 p.m. Mass and floral offering.
Location: Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
MASS in memory of all deceased fishermen, sung by the “José Hódar” Choir. This will be followed by the traditional floral offering, accompanied by the Torrevieja Musical Union, to the Man of the Sea (Paseo Juan Aparicio), where the “SAILOR’S SALVE” will be performed by the José Hódar Choir.
Tuesday, July 15
Paella Competition at the Fish Market
With entertainment by the Los Sulfamidas band and, at the end, the Paella Competition awards ceremony
Wednesday, July 16
8:00 a.m. “Traditional Diana” will liven up the atmosphere with festive melodies through the city streets.
11:30h. “Cucaña Maritima”
Challenge and laughter guaranteed: Dare to conquer it!
Location: Port of Torrevieja
8:00 p.m. Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, sung by the “José Hódar” Choral Mass. At the end of the mass, the procession of the Virgen del Carmen will begin to Paseo Vista Alegre (Tribute to the Musicians).
Fireworks will then be set off and the procession will return to the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
THIS YEAR, DUE TO PORT WORKS, THE TRADITIONAL BOAT AND PROMENADE OF THE VIRGIN DEL CARMEN WILL NOT TAKE PLACE.
As a NEW FEATURE, this year’s procession will pass along Paseo Vista Alegre.
