Torrevieja’s Local Police carried out a preventive road traffic control operation this morning at 06:15, targeting the junction of Avenida Rosa Mazón Valero and Avenida Delfina Viudes. The checkpoint forms part of an ongoing campaign to improve road safety, reduce traffic-related incidents, and detect offences linked to alcohol and drug consumption.
During the operation, officers registered a number of violations:
Three criminal offences for driving under the influence, with drivers exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
Five administrative fines for driving while affected by alcohol, though below the criminal threshold.
One fine for driving a vehicle with an expired ITV (MOT).
One penalty for failing to exchange a foreign driving licence within the legal deadline.
One report for a violation of Spain’s Citizen Security Law (Ley Orgánica 4/2015) due to a lack of respect shown to police officers during the stop.
The Department for Local Police reminded residents of the importance of following road traffic regulations and cooperating with officers during such operations, which are designed exclusively to protect the safety of all road users.
