A woman has been proven to have set the fire by lighting several incense sticks at her house.
The incident took place yesterday morning, Monday April 20th, after nine o’clock, on Calle Sant Pere, on the second floor of a six-story building, in the Carrer La Mar district, within the Gallo Rojo urbanisation.
Consortium firemen and Local Police have come immediately and also collaborated the Alicante municipal fire station on the beach of San Juan.
Evacuation
According to the Consortium, the fire generated a lot of smoke that could be seen from a particular height, and an older person with mobility problems was able to be evacuated in time.
When the firefighters arrived, they started to put out the fire, avoiding the spread to the remainder of the house and common areas of the building. The house was extensively harmed by the fire, notably the living room and terrace.
Hospitalisation
Municipal sources said the woman was brought to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, but no evacuation of the building was required because of the prompt response of firemen.
Intervened a command unit, a heavy urban fire engine and a ladder truck with a sergeant, a corporal and six firefighters from the fire station of San Vicente del Raspeig.
