Antonio Vidal, the Councillor for Markets, and Rosa Cañón, the Councillor for Public Health, have announced the commencement of an ambulance service at the weekly market in Torrevieja from Friday, April 24th.
In the event of an incident, this healthcare resource will enable immediate attention and transfers to healthcare centres as needed.
Every Friday, the weekly market in Torrevieja draws a substantial number of merchants, workers, and citizens, particularly during the summer months, when the number of attendees increases substantially.
The concentration of individuals and the weather conditions, as delineated in the municipal planning, may result in health incidents, the majority of which are minor, including dizziness, hypotension, trauma, or heat exhaustion.
For this reason, the City Council has determined that it is imperative to implement a preventive health resource that enables rapid intervention within the market premises, thereby enhancing the service provided to users and reducing the need for unnecessary journeys to health centres.
The Type B (Basic Life Support) ambulance service will be operational from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays, or on the day of the market if it is rescheduled due to inclement weather, in the Antonio Soria Park area.
In order to ensure a prompt and efficient response to any potential health incidents, this initiative is being initiated in partnership with the departments of Public Health, Markets, and Security and Emergencies.
The Torrevieja City Council strengthens security and enhances the quality of services in one of the city’s busiest locations with this action, ensuring that both citizens and visitors can enjoy a greater sense of tranquillity.
