The BIGSOUND festival will not be held in Torrevieja this summer as planned. Organisers of the event and the Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja issued a joint statement confirming the cancellation of the 2026 edition, citing that ticket sales and public interest did not reach the levels required to ensure the festival could take place under the intended conditions.
The festival organisation explained that despite the work involved in planning and promoting the event, current circumstances do not allow the 2026 edition to proceed with the necessary guarantees. Consequently, the decision was made to postpone the project and look toward future dates. Both the organisers and the local council expressed optimism for the future, sharing their hope that the right conditions will return to allow the festival to be held in upcoming editions with a stronger response from the public.
The Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja reaffirmed its commitment to culture, music, and major events as essential tools for the economic and tourism promotion of the city. Officials noted that Torrevieja continues to offer a busy year-round schedule of concerts and cultural activities. For its part, the BIGSOUND organisation thanked the local institutions for their cooperation and expressed a desire to explore future opportunities to bring the festival back to the city in the future.
