The Guardia Civil has arrested two individuals and is investigating a further three in connection with a series of specialised safe robberies. The gang is alleged to have targeted nine agricultural companies across the provinces of Almeria, Granada, Malaga, Murcia and Alicante between November 2024 and January 2025.
According to a statement from the armed institute, the investigation led to a simultaneous operation on 16 April. This resulted in one arrest in the Principality of Asturias and another in Villena, Alicante. In addition to these arrests, three other individuals are being investigated; however, they were already serving sentences in prison for previous offences.
The operation has successfully solved eleven crimes and neutralised a group that, according to the Guardia Civil, had caused “great social alarm” within the business sectors of the five affected provinces.
Officers identified a common criminal pattern across various agricultural and commercial firms in the Spanish Levant and the southeast. Investigators determined that the robberies were carried out by a “perfectly structured” group. The gang reportedly used advanced counter-surveillance measures to ensure the success of their raids and to detect any police presence.
The criminal network utilised multiple vehicles for their journeys and used stolen number plates to make it more difficult for investigative units to track or identify them.
The five individuals involved face a total of eleven charges, including robbery with force, membership of a criminal organisation and falsification of documents. The joint operation was carried out by the Roca Team from the El Ejido company in Almeria and the Investigation Area of the main post in Villena, Alicante.
