The police arrested Pietro Izzo, the leader of the Licciardi clan linked to a group close to the Neapolitan Camorra, in Alicante. The arrest was carried out under a European arrest warrant for his extradition to Italy due to alleged offences of blackmail and extortion.
During the police operation, the suspect initiated a chase that led to an area close to Santa Bárbara Castle, within the Ereta Park, where he was eventually captured despite offering resistance. At the time of his arrest, Izzo was carrying 2,000 euro in cash.
Pietro Izzo is linked to the alleged blackmail and extortion of several builders, from whom he allegedly demanded money to avoid retaliation. Italian authorities are seeking the extradition of the detained man and are requesting a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for these alleged crimes.
