The Department of Human Resources at Orihuela City Council has announced a major recruitment drive aimed at members of the temporary employment pool to fill a total of 61 jobs. The positions are linked to the Street Cleaning and Urban Solid Waste service for the upcoming summer campaign.
The local authority plans to offer 53 day and afternoon-shift labourer positions, running from Monday to Friday, alongside eight night-shift labourer roles for the waste collection service across the entire municipality. This operational reinforcement will cover the city centre, the outlying districts and the coastal areas as part of the special measures planned for the summer months.
The Councillor for Human Resources, Agustina Rodríguez, explained that this measure makes it possible to strengthen municipal services at a time of year when activity and cleaning requirements increase considerably across the municipality, particularly on the coast and in areas experiencing a higher influx of people.
The temporary employment contracts will last for a planned duration of 82 days. The hiring period is scheduled to run approximately from 20th June until 9th September 2026.
The recruitment event will take place today, Thursday, 21st May, at 10:30 at the La Lonja Auditorium in Orihuela, located on Calle Aragón. During the event, positions will be offered to candidates included in the relevant job pool, who can choose to accept or reject the roles on the spot.
Municipal sources added that this staff reinforcement will be complemented by further recruitment calls for drivers within the special summer operation. This initiative builds upon the renewal and expansion of machinery and vehicles that the council has been introducing over recent months to improve street cleaning and waste collection services throughout the Orihuela municipality.
