The Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja have launched an investigation following a knife attack on Monday morning, 25th May, which left two people injured in the centre of the town.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Calle Moriones, near the junction with Calle Antonio Machado, a central and typically busy area. Multiple patrols from the Guardia Civil and the Local Police rushed to the scene, quickly cordoning off the area and setting up a security perimeter to allow emergency services to work.
Several ambulances were deployed to the scene to treat the casualties. Medical staff managed to stabilise both individuals before they were taken to the University Hospital of Torrevieja. One of the victims, who sustained more serious stab wounds, had to undergo emergency surgery.
Upon arrival at the hospital, both men involved were placed under police custody to ensure they remain available for the investigation and so officers can take their statements once their medical conditions permit.
Information obtained indicates that the altercation began inside a private home on Calle Moriones. One of the injured men was discovered inside the property, whilst the second was located in a nearby café on the same street. This suggests a possible escape or movement following the initial confrontation, though investigations are ongoing. Sources also suggest that one of the individuals involved has a professional connection to a real estate agency operating on the same street.
Local Police officers and the Guardia Civil started enquiries immediately, gathering statements from potential witnesses to reconstruct the timeline of events. Very few details have been released regarding the exact circumstances, the motive, or whether the individuals had a prior relationship.
The investigation remains open under the direction of the Duty Magistrate’s Court at the Palace of Justice, situated next to the main Guardia Civil barracks and just two hundred metres from the scene of the incident.
