A mother and daughter have been arrested in Elche after allegedly stealing a handbag at a nightclub and using a bank card inside to spend more than 400 euro. The two women, aged 49 and 21, are facing charges of theft and fraud following an investigation by the National Police.
The incident took place when a young woman temporarily left her handbag on a ledge while using the toilets at an entertainment venue. According to police investigations, the suspects took advantage of this brief lapse of attention to take the handbag before quickly leaving the premises.
The stolen bag contained the victim’s personal documentation, her mobile phone and a bank card. The arrested women allegedly used the bank card to make several fraudulent purchases at various shops, running up a total spend of over 400 euro.
Following a report filed by the victim, officers launched an investigation that eventually led to the identification and location of the two women. After their arrest, both individuals were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities as the alleged perpetrators of the theft and fraud.
