The Guardia Civil, within the framework of operation “Khachapuri 26”, has arrested six people allegedly involved in robberies at residential properties. An initial intervention during a routine Citizen Security service gave way to a broader operation that has allowed for the recovery of numerous items.
The operation, led by the team against robberies in the countryside (ROCA) of the Guardia Civil of Torrevieja, began when a Citizen Security patrol identified the driver of a rental vehicle on 1st April. It turned out that this man had an active judicial arrest warrant. After proceeding with his arrest, officers carried out a search of the vehicle, in which various items were located. The arrested man could not justify the origin of these items, which raised suspicions that they could be related to criminal activities.
A broader investigation was initiated with surveillance and tracking, and these efforts allowed for the gathering of sufficient evidence to carry out several house searches. Numerous objects were recovered during these searches, including jewellery, electronic devices and other items of value, allegedly originating from robberies at houses. Some of these items have already been returned to their owners and victims of these robberies. In addition, specific locksmith tools suitable for opening locks without visible signs of forcing were seized.
As a result of the operation, a total of six people aged between 27 and 36 have been arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes of robbery with force inside houses and membership of a criminal group.
The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Torrevieja, which has decreed provisional prison accommodation for all six.
The investigation remains open with the aim of locating potential victims and owners of items that are still waiting to be returned, in order to fully clarify the facts.
