The Youth Department of Orihuela Town Council, led by councillor Anabel García, has launched the 2026 edition of its Summer Cinema initiative. The cultural and leisure programme will bring open-air film screenings to various neighbourhoods, local districts, and areas across the municipality throughout July and August.
The main objective of the project is to offer a family entertainment option during summer evenings, bringing cinema closer to residents and visitors in public venues across Orihuela, its coast, and surrounding villages.
Speaking about the initiative, Youth Councillor Anabel García highlighted that through this programme, the local authority aims to continue promoting free, accessible activities designed for all audiences, particularly families, young people, and children, creating shared community spaces in local squares and streets during the summer months.
The film schedule commences tomorrow, Wednesday 29th July at the Explanada de Playa Flamenca with a screening of Back to the Future in its original version. The summer cycle will conclude on Thursday 27th August at the Glorieta Gabriel Miró in central Orihuela with How to Train Your Dragon. All screenings are scheduled to start at 21:30.
