Los Montesinos has been celebrating the 36th anniversary of its municipal segregation with a wide programme of activities organised for residents and visitors. The commemoration marks 30th July 1990, the date on which the municipality officially gained its administrative independence, starting a new era of growth and community identity.
Under the slogan “Together we have drawn the town we once dreamed of”, the local council arranged a series of events running from 18th to 31st July, blending cultural, sporting, musical, and family activities.
The celebrations kicked off on 18th and 19th July with a Game Party held at the Civic Centre. Shortly after, between 20 and 24 July, local sports facilities hosted the fourth edition of the Summer Cup Los Montesinos, a seven-a-side football tournament that attracted numerous teams and spectators.
On 24th July, the 4th Craft Fair took place at the 30th July Botanical Park, offering craft stalls, children’s activities, bouncy castles, live music from the group Alter Ego, and various food trucks. The following evening, Sacred Heart Square held the selection of Queens and Ladies for the 2026 Patron Saint Festivities in honour of the Virgen del Pilar, concluding with a public dance featuring the group Situación Límite.
A popular night walk to La Marquesa was held on 27th July, setting off from Town Hall Square and concluding with a stargazing session led by the Didactic and Interactive Science Museum (MUDIC) of the Miguel Hernández University. Over 100 participants took part and received details regarding the solar eclipse scheduled for 12th August.
The official anniversary events on 30th July begin with a mass of thanksgiving, followed by a performance titled “Efecto 2000” by the Agrupación Musical Montesinos in Sacred Heart Square. To mark the date, the municipal swimming pool will also offer free admission throughout the day.
The celebrations draw to a close on 31st July with the traditional Children’s Water Party in Town Hall Square, featuring inflatable water slides and a foam party.
