National Police officers have arrested a 27-year-old British fugitive in Algorfa who was wanted on an International Arrest Warrant for drug trafficking offences. The arrested man, considered by UK authorities to be one of their top criminal targets, was about to be added to the country’s most wanted list.
The operation was carried out by officers from the Alicante Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, in collaboration with British authorities. The investigation began following a request for international cooperation from the International Fugitives Group of the General Police Headquarters, which forwarded information provided by the United Kingdom.
The investigation confirmed that the wanted man was subject to an International Arrest Warrant in force since June 2026 for drug trafficking offences. The alleged crimes were committed between 2023 and 2024, a period during which he was allegedly part of an organised group dedicated to the distribution of cocaine, cannabis and heroin. Furthermore, he is believed to have continued committing crimes while on provisional release.
Given the high level of danger posed by the fugitive, who is also accused of serious crimes involving the use of weapons against people and a high risk of escape due to the possibility of facing a life sentence, the agents designed a special operation with extensive security measures.
After several days of investigation, the police located his possible hideout in Algorfa. They then set up an operation that allowed them to locate and arrest him near his home, without him being able to offer any effective resistance thanks to the swiftness of the police action.
The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Duty Magistrate’s Section of the Central Court of First Instance, where the corresponding extradition procedure will be initiated for his delivery to the British authorities.
